Conference program (PDF)

Objective

The symposium is an academic research conference focused on macroeconomics and macro finance. It primarily aims to promote frontier contributions by junior macroeconomic researchers and strengthen ties between the Nordic and the broader international research community. The symposium allows junior researchers to present and discuss their research and receive advice and constructive criticism from senior macroeconomic scholars.

Keynote speaker

Ludwig Straub (Harvard University)

Venue

Solstrand Hotel lies on the shores of the picturesque Bjørnefjorden, 30 km south of Bergen, Norway. Solstrand is walking distance (or a short taxi trip) from “downtown” Os. You can get to Os by local bus from Bergen bus station.

Participants are expected to stay for the entire duration of the conference, arrive at lunch on August 10 and depart after lunch on August 13. If you cannot stay the whole conference, please inform us when you apply.

Topics

Papers on all topics broadly associated with macroeconomics and macro finance are welcome, including “standard” macroeconomic analysis (real and monetary business cycles, labor markets, growth, etc.) and issues such as asset pricing, public finance, human capital accumulation, firm dynamics, heterogeneous agents, income distribution, credit markets, and political economy.

Who should apply

Submissions are welcome from all junior researchers working on macroeconomics and macro finance. “Junior” refers to those about to complete a PhD, assistant professors, and recently tenured associate professors.

Paper submission

Please send papers or abstracts to normac.conference@gmail.com by April 13.
